Sailing Adventures
Fancy an adventure on the high seas? Well, join the R.Tucker Thompson youth sail training ship on a 3-day fun adventure, that will challenge and inspire you - but be heaps of fun as well!
Our three-day adventures take place in the beautiful Bay of Islands and offer the chance to experience what it is like to sail a tall ship. Activities on board include:
- Understanding of sailing and safety at sea
- Rope & rig work, navigation,
- Fishing, environment and marine econolgy
- And above all, having fun!
After we receive your application, we'll send out Joining Instructions four weeks prior to your trip. On board, you will be supplied with a log book to for you to take away as a record of what you have learned.

Pricing
Voyages are funded as follows:
- A minimum of $375 to be contributed by the applicant
- $375 per personby the ship using profits from trading activities, grants, or the ship's own fund raising efforts.
Please note that subsidised trips are not provided for the following:
- Individuals not domicile in Northland, New Zealand;
- Individuals who are in employment and being sponsored by their company;
- Inviduals or groups from organisations already funded for such programmes.
Applicants may participate, however will be expected to pay a $450 contribution.
Applicants from overseas may participate however they will be expected to pay the full NZ$750 voyage cost.
